Unsubstantiated Banditos Concert Scene Rumor: Jerry and the Jackmormons (yes, THAT Jerry), August 28-30. We'll let you know when it's finalized.

Update: It's now official and, get this, the band will record the run of shows for the next Jerry Joseph & Jackmormons live release "Live @ Bandito's". A live album recorded at Banditos! Don't miss this historic series of shows. Details below.

Here's a Jambase review of the 3-day Jerry Joseph fest last August at Banditos. It's a great review of a great series of shows...worthy of the bands "favorite place to play in the world."

May

Saturday May 23rd
Dave's latest Album, Walking Underwater
The Dave Walker Band
Just as they did last Memorial Day weekend, Dave and his smoking hot band will help clear the cobwebs from the corners and shake the dust off the chandeliers at Banditos as they kick off our summer concert series.  Dave’s musical resume puts most others to shame- Savoy Brown, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath are just a few of the feathers in his cap.  To top it off, Dave calls Virginia City home and we couldn’t be more pleased to call him one of our own.  Come on down and kick off the summer in style with The Dave Walker Band’s incendiary blues rock.

9:30 pm, $10 at the door

June

Friday June 5th
Papa Mali
Papa Mali
Papa Mali and his band return to Banditos to deliver their swamp funk good time boogie music for our listening and dancing pleasure. Based in Austin, Papa Mali channels old blues, funk and R&B along with a healthy dose of New Orleans parade sass. From those ingredients he produces a gumbo so thick greasy and satisfying that you'd have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to shake your ass to it.

9:30 start, $10 at the door.

Saturday June 20th
Damon Castillo Band - Laurel Lane
The Damon Castillo Band
Damon Castillo and band are coming to us from San Luis Obispo, California.  With their laid back Californian grooves, solid song writing and a highly regarded live show the Damon Castillo Band is one act that we are anxiously anticipating this summer.   Each member is a master-musician with a diverse past playing jazz, funk, rock, and soul. Their prowess comes through on every note, dynamically punctuating Damon’s soulful lyrics, at times mournful, and often larger than life. They’re also known to keep the dance floor packed so bring your dancing shoes!

July

Saturday July 4th
The Dirty Shame
The Dirty Shame
Bozeman’s own Dirty Shame will play our fourth of July celebration this year.  Get ready for a honky tonking good time as these Outlaw country rockers provide their own fireworks on stage.  You can never go wrong on the 4th in VC!

Post-fireworks. $5 at the door.

Saturday July 18th
Ramsay Midwood
Ramsay Midwood
Ramsay is a funky, quirky singer-songwriter from Austin, Texas.  He’s showing up with a band and we can’t wait.  His first album, Shootout at the OK Chinese Restaurant, has been in steady rotation at Banditos for years.  His latest, Popular Delusions & the Madness of Cows is every bit as fun as his first.  This should be a great night at Banditos.

August

Sunday August 2nd
Bumpus
Bumpus
Bumpus brings some Windy City funk and soul our way with a full band that includes a horn section as well as back up singers- so you know they’re the real deal. This will be a straight up dance party so plan accordingly...

9:30 pm, $10 at the door

Friday August 7th
Patrcik Sweany

The Patrick Sweany Band
We’ve been working at getting Pat to Banditos for a couple of years now.  While Pat’s guitar is firmly rooted is the blues, he and the band are no tribute act.  When they get ripping the music is familiar and fresh at the same time.  If you like the Black Keys you will undoubtedly be into Pat.  We are fired up for this one.

9:30 pm, $10 at the door

Tuesday August 18th
Jeni Fleming

Jeni Fleming
We are pleased to once again have Jeni back for a dinner concert.  This time she’s showing up with a 5 piece band. Her voice will send chills up your spine and with her top notch band filling in the spaces between her vocals,  if you closed your eyes you might think you were at the Village Vanguard in NYC.  It’s rare to find a voice like Jeni’s that isn’t attached to some major attitude but with Jeni that’s what you get.  A treat indeed.

$45 includes dinner and show (limited seating). Dinner begins at 7pm with Jeni starting as desserts and coffee go out. Call Banditos for more information.

Friday - Sunday, August 28th - 29th & 30th
Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons

Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons

It’s appropriate that Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons follow up their last live album, 2002’s Mouthful of Copper, recorded live in Butte, MT, with a live album from Banditos in Virginia City, MT. Home of the largest placer gold discovery in America and the one time capitol of Montana, Virginia City truly was and is the wild, wild West. Sheriffs were hung here, Calamity Jane was a snot nosed kid on our streets, vigilantes took the law into their own hands and strung up their neighbors, fortunes were made and lost here . . . change the name of Virginia City to Deadwood and you’ve got a hit series on your hands.

If you’ve been lucky enough to catch a Jerry Joseph show at Banditos over the past five years, then you already know about the magic that the building evokes from the band as well as the unique Montana vibes that the city emanates.  Don’t miss your chance to be a part of an historic  live recording in one of the most distinct historic towns in the world.

Friday Night, 8/28: Bret Mosely from Brooklyn opens the show at 9pm. Jackmormons on at 10pm.

Saturday Night, 8/29: Secret Powers from Missoula opens the show at 9pm. Jackmormons at 10pm.

Sunday Night, 8/30: Jackmormons show starts at 8pm.

Tickets are $20 each night. Tickets must be purchased online at www.jerryjoseph.com (scroll down to the Banditos show).

September

Saturday September 5th
Thermal Grass
Thermal Grass
Its been too long since we've had any bluegrass at Banditos. We apologize but we're sure that Tom Murphy and crew will make up for it with a sizzling Labor Day blowout show. Thermal Grass is composed of the area's finest pickers. (And that's saying something when you stop to think about the high number of quality players in the Greater Yellowstone region.) From Newgrass to traditional bluegrass and all points in between, Banditos is set for a night of hot picking.

9:30 pm, $10 at the door

The Banditos Concert Scene

At Banditos, we love live music as much as we love great food.

The first concerts we brought in were just so we wouldn’t have to go the summer without seeing some great live music.  It didn’t take long for us to realize that other locals desired quality shows as well.  So we’ve continued to bring great touring and select local bands to Virginia City.

The music we bring in spans the genres- from hip hop to bluegrass, from afrobeat to rock’n’roll.  The common denominator between them all is original music from the soul, genres be damned.

The venue (or maybe it’s the great food we feed them before the show) tends to bring out the best in the bands and our crowd.

Please come join us for a show at Banditos.  Where else can you have a first class meal and catch an inspired live show in a ghost town?

Bands we’ve had in the past: Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons, The Motet, Jeni Flemming Trio, Papa Mali, Eddie Shaw, Dubconcious, EightTrack Mind, I See Hawks in LA, Larry Keel, Albino, Aphrodesia, The Packway Handle Band, Eric McFadden Trio, The Gourds, The Reggae Cowboys, Richmond Fontaine . . .

In case you're interested, here's the 2008 concert schedule.
