Music & Concerts

2008 Recap: The 2008 concert season is over, but don't miss this Jambase review of the 3-day Jerry Joseph fest last August. It's a great review of a great series of shows...worthy of the bands "favorite place to play in the world." See you in 2009!

2008 Concert Schedule

At Banditos, we love live music as much as we love great food.

The first concerts we brought in were just so we wouldn’t have to go the summer without seeing some great live music.  It didn’t take long for us to realize that other locals desired quality shows as well.  So we’ve continued to bring great touring and select local bands to Virginia City.

The music we bring in spans the genres- from hip hop to bluegrass, from afrobeat to rock’n’roll.  The common denominator between them all is original music from the soul, genres be damned.

The venue (or maybe it’s the great food we feed them before the show) tends to bring out the best in the bands and our crowd.

Please come join us for a show at Banditos.  Where else can you have a first class meal and catch an inspired live show in a ghost town?

Bands we’ve had in the past: Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons, The Motet, Jeni Flemming Trio, Papa Mali, Eddie Shaw, Dubconcious, EightTrack Mind, I See Hawks in LA, Larry Keel, Albino, Aphrodesia, The Packway Handle Band, Eric McFadden Trio, The Gourds, The Reggae Cowboys, Richmond Fontaine . . .

2008 Concert Schedule

May

Sunday May 25th
Dave's latest Album, Walking Underwater
The Dave Walker Band kicks off our concert season.  The vortex that surrounds Virginia City sucked in another kindred spirit last summer as Dave moved to our lovely little town.  He was “the voice” behind the Savoy Brown Blues Band for several years and played with Fleetwood Mac and Black Sabbath amongst others.  His voice is as fine as ever and his All Star band tears apart the blues that Dave sings.  They have just released an album of original blues that is receiving rave reviews from Blues lovers.  This show will be an incredible way to begin our season.

$5 at the door, 9pm start

Bret Mosley's Light & Blood album cover

Opening for the Denmark Veseys all three nights will be dobro-spanking singer of songs, Bret Mosley.

Brooklyn-based Mosley recently released his first studio album Light & Blood on Woodstock MusicWorks (12/04/07). Every track was performed live with no overdubs or punch-ins. The result is at once lean and lush...a smoldering confessional work…soulful Americana laced with a driving groove.

His unreservedly original sound has gathered an audience ranging from cowhands to bankers, from rastas to cops. You know, the typical Banditos crowd. Don't miss this one!

Sunday August 31st
Maurice John Vaughn

Closing Party! Maurice John Vaughn is a true Chicago blues triple threat boasting an arsenal that includes smooth vocals, ripping guitar and a funky sax. It has been a couple of years since Maurice has brought his great show to Banditos and we are thrilled to welcome him back. Come get down one last time at Banditos in 2008.

$10 at the door.
